Frequently Asked Questions
How much notice do you need?
I recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. During busy periods, the earlier you book, the better.
Do you take last-minute orders?
Sometimes! The shortest notice I've accepted is 4 days. As cakes need time to be baked, decorated and, in some cases, require personalised toppers to be ordered, last-minute availability cannot be guaranteed.
How do I place an order?
You can order directly through the website, complete the contact form, or send a message via Facebook.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Cakes ordered through the website require full payment at checkout. For custom cake orders placed via email or social media, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking.
What sizes of cakes do you offer?
My standard celebration cake sizes are 6" and 8".
What flavours do you offer?
I currently offer Vanilla, Chocolate and Lemon cakes.
Can I add cupcakes, brownies or other treats to my order?
Absolutely! I can create custom celebration packages and add extras such as brownies, blondies, cupcakes and other treats to complement your cake.
Do you make fondant-covered cakes?
Unfortunately not. All Mummy Bear Cakes are finished in buttercream, which allows me to create the style and finish my customers know and love.
Can I send inspiration photos?
Yes, inspiration photos are always welcome and can be really helpful when discussing your design. However, every cake is handmade and no cake will ever be an exact replica of another baker's work.
Can you copy a cake exactly?
No. I love using inspiration photos as a starting point, but I always add my own creative touch. Every baker has their own style, and every Mummy Bear Cake is uniquely made for you.
Do you offer gluten-free cakes?
Yes, I offer gluten-free options.
Do you cater for other dietary requirements?
I do everything possible to minimise the risk of cross-contamination. However, all products are prepared in a kitchen that handles allergens, so I cannot guarantee that any cake is completely free from traces of allergens.
Do you offer delivery?
Collection is preferred, however delivery for weddings, parties and larger events can be discussed for an additional charge.
Where do I collect my cake from?
Collections are from Weston Hills, Spalding. The full collection address will be provided before your collection date.
How should I store my cake?
Cakes should be kept cool and are best stored in the fridge until needed.
Should I refrigerate my cake?
Yes. For the best results, keep your cake refrigerated and remove it approximately 30 minutes before serving to allow it to come to room temperature.
Can I make changes to my order?
Changes may be possible within reason and at the baker's discretion. This will depend on how close your collection date is and whether any decorations, toppers or supplies have already been ordered or prepared.
What is your cancellation policy?
The 50% deposit is non-refundable as ingredients, decorations and preparation work begin as soon as your booking is confirmed. If you cancel within 7 days of your collection date, no refund will be given.
